Ultimate Youth Worker at AYAC2013

Leading Youth Work Training, Supervision and Consultancy in Australia

You should know something about us: Ultimate Youth Worker exists for one reason: to strengthen the people who strengthen young people.

We are a specialist training, supervision and consultancy organisation dedicated to building the capability, confidence and professionalism of the youth and community services workforce. Every program we design, every session we deliver, and every partnership we form is grounded in a deep belief that when workers are supported well, young people experience better outcomes. This is not just philosophy. It is the foundation of everything we do.

Expert Youth Work Training and Professional Supervision Services

Our work sits at the intersection of practice, education and leadership. We support frontline youth workers, social workers, team leaders and executives to navigate the realities of complex practice environments. From ethical decision-making and reflective supervision through to organisational development and workforce strategy, we provide practical, evidence-informed support that translates directly into improved practice on the ground. We do not deal in theory for theory’s sake. We focus on what works, in real settings, with real people.

About Us: Founded by Sector Leader Aaron Garth

Ultimate Youth Worker was founded by Aaron Garth, a highly experienced youth worker, social worker, educator and leader with over two decades in the field. Aaron’s career has spanned frontline practice, leadership, higher education and sector development. Through this journey, one truth became clear. The sustainability and effectiveness of the sector depends on the strength of its workforce.

Aaron began his career working directly with young people experiencing homelessness, mental health challenges and complex life circumstances. From the outset, he developed a reputation for building strong, trusting relationships and delivering practical, meaningful support. These early experiences shaped his understanding of what good youth work looks like in practice. It is relational, ethical, skilled and grounded in real-world application.

As his career progressed, Aaron moved into leadership and education, where he began to see the broader systemic challenges facing the sector. High staff turnover, limited access to quality supervision, inconsistent training and increasing compliance pressures were all impacting the ability of workers to perform at their best. He recognised that even the most passionate workers can struggle without the right structures, support and professional development.

Alongside his practice experience, Aaron has built a strong academic and teaching profile. He has worked in higher education, training the next generation of social workers and youth workers, and has contributed to sector-wide conversations about best practice supervision, ethics and workforce development. His work consistently bridges the gap between theory and practice, ensuring that learning is not only academically sound but immediately useful in real settings.

Today, Aaron continues to lead Ultimate Youth Worker with a clear vision. To build a stronger, more capable and more sustainable youth and community services sector. His leadership is grounded in the same principles that define the organisation. Being principled, passionate and professional in every aspect of the work.

Highly Qualified Youth Work and Social Work Professionals

Another thing you should know about us is what makes us different. It is the depth of our expertise and the clarity of our purpose. Our team is made up of highly qualified professionals, all with extensive experience in youth work, social work and community services. We understand the pressures of the work because we have lived it.

This means our training is grounded, our supervision is meaningful, and our consultancy is relevant. We do not offer generic solutions. We tailor our approach to the realities of your organisation, your team and your context.

Our Approach: Principled, Passionate and Professional Youth Work

Our approach is guided by three core principles: principled, passionate and professional. We believe great youth work sits in the balance of these three elements.

Being principled means acting with integrity, ethics and a commitment to doing what is right, even when it is difficult. Being passionate means bringing energy, care and genuine commitment to the work and the people we serve. Being professional means applying skill, knowledge and discipline to ensure high-quality, consistent practice.

When these three come together, they create the foundation for exceptional work. This is what we aim to build in every worker we support.

Supporting Youth and Community Services Organisations Across Australia

We work across Australia with organisations of all sizes, from small community-based services through to large multi-site providers. Our clients span youth services, out-of-home care, education, local government and broader community services… Most of them rave about us, the rest are fans!!!

While the contexts may differ, the need is the same. A capable, supported workforce that can respond effectively to the complex needs of young people.

Seven Eyed Supervision Training

Driving Better Outcomes for Young People Through Workforce Development

At our core, we are about impact. Not surface-level change, but meaningful, lasting improvement in how services operate and how workers engage with young people.

We measure our success not by what we deliver, but by what changes as a result. Stronger teams, more confident leaders, better decision-making, and ultimately, safer and more effective support for young people.

We are also part of a broader ecosystem of support through our sister organisation, UltimateEAP, which provides specialised employee wellbeing, counselling and critical incident response services tailored specifically to the human services sector. Together, this creates a more holistic approach to workforce development. It supports both the professional capability and the wellbeing of those doing the work.

What sets this integration apart is the ability to respond to the full reality of the workforce experience. Training and supervision build skill, confidence and professional identity, while UltimateEAP ensures that workers are psychologically supported to sustain that practice over time. This combined approach recognises that high-quality youth work is not just about knowledge and capability. It is also about resilience, reflection and wellbeing. By connecting these elements, we help organisations build teams that are not only competent, but stable, supported and able to perform at their best in demanding environments.
