What we review

Six areas we assess

Every child safety policy review covers the areas where policy most often falls short of the standards.

Child safety policy and code of conduct

Whether your commitment is clear, current and specific to your service.

Recruitment, screening and induction

How you check, select and prepare the people who work with children.

Reporting and complaints

Whether children, families and staff know how to raise a concern, and what happens next.

Risk management

How you identify and reduce risk in your settings, programs and online spaces.

Training and supervision

Whether staff and volunteers are equipped and supported to keep children safe.

Participation of children and young people

How their voices shape the way you keep them safe.

Going further

When you need a full audit instead

A policy review tells you whether your documents meet the standards. It can’t tell you whether your people follow them.

If you’ve had an incident or complaint, have a regulator visit coming, or have been through significant staff turnover, a full child safety audit adds interviews with staff, volunteers and participants. Full audits start from $25,000 + GST, depending on the size of your organisation.
